With all of that being said, BMW NA agreed to replace the engine under warranty which I am grateful for. The new engine arrived at the dealer and goes under the knife tomorrow.
I will say what baffles me is the dealer bill is in excess of $80k right now and I would have to think the vehicle is worth around $90k? Why they didn't just salvage it and call it a day is beyond me. Car gets returned in 28 months when the lease is up...

I would assume that oem crate engine etc might list crazy high but the actual net cost to bmw might be less than half that. Again, just assuming. Also, I would imagine the replacement allows them to CPO the resale for a better dollar.
