I think this is the key point...I have the M550ix as I await my M5 next year (2019 allocation). It is a quick car stock - I ran 12.1 at 117 MPH with stability control still on. That said - and like every review - the chassis and handling components are soft - because this is still a luxury car first - which I really like. So much so - I was worried the M5 would be too stiff for me for day to day...so far the reviews say the different settings are solid.

But - back to the point - the M5 is much more than its engine. From its chassis to the individual suspension tuning controls, to the brakes...So it depends what you want. Luxury with a bunch more power - go M550ix tuned (not necessarily by Dinan) - if you want performance luxury GT - I would say M5.
