I've seen camber arms on other cars fail and let the wheel sit sideways. The trailing arms are actually designed to crush on impact so that's probably what is broken if you hit a curb sideways. My guess is they're made to do that to prevent chassis damage, subframe tear out, etc... Let us know what they tell you
