To me, the diagram shows water from the primary radiator cold side entering the auxiliary radiator, traveling across it to cool further, and discharging into the path to the hot side of the main radiator where it will help reduce the main radiator temp as it travels across to the cold side of the main radiator and is discharged again into the path for the hit side of the main radiator. Seems plausible to me for an auxiliary radiator.

The engine cooling system has a primary radiator and an auxiliary. The intercooler cooling system likewise has a primary radiator and an auxiliary radiator. That also makes sense to me.

I don’t see the ECU cooling lines in the diagram, but assume they are connected to the intercooler coolant system that runs at a lower temperature. The ECU lines look just like the lines going into the intercooler reservoir but I did not actually trace one all the way.

This shows the water warming up as it passes through the radiator which doesn't make sense:

I think ECO cooling was in the F10 and whatever SUVs early on. Not on the F90.

The coloring of the diagram may not be completely accurate given the routing. We have water from the cold side of the primary engine coolant radiator going through the auxiliary radiator and merging with the hot flow entering the hot side of the primary radiator.

The coloring could go either way. This way it matches up with the primary radiator in/out colors.

There is ECU cooling on the F90. I have removed the ECU before and pulled out the coolant line. I think the line comes from the intercooler coolant circuit.

Question. Has this been upgraded in the later years by BMW? I own a 2023 and wonder if I should worry.

Thanks!

The tank part number apparently change but people with the new tank have reported the same issues. It does not seem to affect every car.

Mine is currently off the car. I’m replacing plugs and coils from this issue with the previous owner going unchecked. Misfire in 5-6 with dried coolant remnants. I’m interested. What’s your price shipped to 35756?

Price will be around $400-500 for the kit. Unfortunately I think I won’t have them in stock before you finish the repair. However it’s not hard to install it after you have new tank installed.

While I think the product is a great idea, I don’t see them selling at that price point. Thermoplastics are extremely inexpensive and these appear to be molded based on your CAD design. We all value our time and effort, but you could have these on pretty much every single forum member’s car, or you could have that batch just sitting on the shelf collecting dust. If these were CFRP, they MIGHT carry that value. I mean this with no disrespect whatsoever, but that’s $100-$150 if you ask me, unless I’m missing something… Unfortunately, I’m out at that price range.

Understandably, but the thing is, the brand new tank is a $200 part that is still a time-bomb that will start leaking when you don’t expect. Then you need to replace 3 injectors that are more than $400 each, coils, plugs, and worst case scenario - complete engine. So $400 for peace of mind on $50,000 engine on $100,000 car seems reasonable for me 🫡

Brand new tank is $200+ from the dealership know as the stealership and frankly speaking your cost is a bit high for this community. Lastly, a smart person wouldn’t purchase a coolant tank at that cost when it can be purchased brand new for cheaper elsewhere.

Might find a tank for $150. This shell with a drain could be good for out of warranty owners who don’t look under the hood very often.

New tank is replaced with the cap. So it usually will bring the cost to around $200 with shipping, even if you order it online at discounted price.

You can convert and see how much it retails right now in Russia

We will try to bring the product close to this price here in US. Thank you.

I definitely agree with you on this. Most of us on here care about our cars so we check them consistently but for someone out of warranty who doesn’t wanna look then maybe that price is justifiable.

Which is true but don’t look at the community as cash cows just because of the cars we owned.

That’s just a cover with 3M tape. Not a new cap. All those aluminum caps are covers. Except for the windshield fluid. That’s a new cap. And they have one new company that is offering a new oil cap and gas cap.

This has me reconsidering converting to Evans coolant, which runs at maybe half the pressure of stock coolant. I have run it in my E36 M3 turbo since 2006 and ran it in my E90 M3 for 6 or 7 years. Probably not a good for track use since it is apparently flammable. I have a tank of gas in my car that is flammable … as well as an aftermarket water/meth system filled with 70% meth that is flammable.

Not for me. I can handle this no problem and like the M5. Changed my coolant tank, reduced the heat under it, contained the heat, reflected the heat. Family sedan that does near 140 in the quarter with mods is pretty exceptional.
