I'm back from a trip to the grocery store and can safely say I had no changes to any exhaust notes. It did wipe out my Bimmercode quality-of-life changes, which meant ASD was back on, along with that dumb startup nag and chime. First time I've worn a seatbelt in a year, too... to get it to shut up. Those will be re-disabled shortly.
Oh, I had to set my M-buttons back up, too. Last edited by nerdogray; 03-03-2024 at 04:23 PM.. |

It waits for cool down because during the update it would stop the after run on the coolant pump and fans.
I think it also needs a certain level of battery charge which of course isn't always 100% because of the overly complex charging only under coasting. Glad to see it is working for people. My wife's X5 only got one or two then got the the broken update that wouldn't install OTA. That one breaks the auto start stop disable in bimmercode so I'll never get that update. I'll probably take the update on my M5 later this week. |

Thanks. I forgot that remote start was an option in the climate control section. I switched it back on and it works now.

So my app doesn’t work to lock/unlock it after the update. Had to re-enable remote start again and all was good as all updates always turns it off. So stupid.

I went ahead with the update. Took about 25 minutes. The car makes all kinds of noises as various pumps and fans seem to cycle. My M settings were retained and as it says in the update notes I had to re-enable remote start under the climate menu. Haven't started the car yet but at least it didn't brick.

The rumors of exhaust sounds ruined by updates are as tenacious as the rumors of a power increase after the break in service. This has been around since at least the 2019MY with every software update. Similarly with some claiming the sound was totally ruined, others noting no difference, and a few saying it was better. It's like a recurring collective illusion on the forum. Let's just say..... doubt.

I noticed the air conditioner seemed to suck today. That was because the update reset the settings for the vent temperature in iDrive.
It also reset the adaptive cruise control settings. But otherwise the car is the same, including pops and bangs. |
