It might be farther than the M5 but I’ve read stories of the leaks getting into other engine parts and causing bigger problems in the M550, also.

Interesting. The bulletin even mentions not working on cars with an existing problem where replacing it with the known parts numbers with issue is the solution. Maybe ask your dealer if they got new guidance and a new part or other fix. It seems like it would be odd for you dealer to proactively schedule work if it was in violation of the bulletin.

Maybe there’s a fix and it’s rolling out in Europe first? Logistics of doing this across the US and the 340+ dealers is prob a bit challenging but maybe under way? 🤷

Are you driving the car? Have you had any signs of a problem with the tank?

got you. I see dried coolant spots around my tank. I took picture and leaving it as is to see if the problem progress or if it was a one time thing.

Just took my 19 M5 in for the 40k where I was going to do the spark plugs. My tech said he saw my tank in bad shape but unfortunately can't get a replacement now. We held off on doing the plugs because we didn't want to mess anything up when removing the tank.

Guess I just have to drive it until a recall and fix get put out. shit.

Already replaced mine at BMW local dealer. Likely going with an aftermarket billet tank.

Yep. That’s the difference in Europe I guess

BMW dealers in the UK can order up to 5pm (from memory) and get the part the following day IF in UK satellite depot) +1day for Germany.

However….they’ve confirmed that it’s not affected the coils….but it’s been on the ramp ALL day and wont be off it until lunchtime tomorrow. I can’t believe it takes that long to replace a tank ?! Annoying now. They’ve given me a new M4 Comp Convertible for the time being.

Seems like every single F90 is plagued with this issue.

Had mine replaced last year. Caught it in time. But damn- now I see we all have had it.

A little backstory: I was in the middle of purchasing a 2020 M5 CPO at my local BMW dealership. I signed all the papers and had already emptied my current car as it would be traded in.

I was waiting for the keys to leave and enjoy the car. Just beforehand, they noticed the bulletin on their end and reverted the sale. I've contacted the dealership regarding the fix, but there is no news yet.

If anyone gets updated, please continue posting on the thread, as this is the only place where I've been getting updates on similar cases.

The deal is still valid for 60 days due to my approval, and I would love to get this car.

I owned a 2019 F90 M5 and now have a 2022 and I have not experienced this issue. I just checked this week at my dealer and all is good with my car.

Had a similar experience except I wasn't going to buy, I went to a fairly local BMW dealer to truthfully examine my options and what not. They had only one M5 in their inventory (technically two M5s one was just returned off-lease but was being held from being advertised) that was advertised on the website.

I had saw it the ad page for it and ofcourse I was interested in taking a look and possibly test driving it. But the salesman told me straight up he wouldn't be able to sell it due to the recall. Come to find out I couldn't even look at it cause it was being worked on by a mechanic.

So it seems like the dealer is stuck with that car being in their inventory until BMW puts out the fixed part for it.

Was a nice M5 too LCI model with a individual color and Competition package.

I ordered a 2021 and still have it. I have not experienced any issues with the tank, and I check the tank regularly.

+1 ‘19 and ‘22, and have also been lucky enough so far to not be affected by this on either, but I’m always keeping an eye on it.
