Is it me or is the Ambient Air Option a total waste of time?

My M5C has the Ambient Air option as part of the Ionic system. I didn't add it as an option as the car was a used one when I got it and there were two used cartridges in it. I decided to fork out £25 to buy a new one and try it, however after fitting this very expensive piece of plastic and turning the setting up to maximum, I can hardly smell this at all.... Is it me or is this totally a waste of time? Or am I doing something wrong here?

I've seen a Youtube video showing people taking these cartridges apart and adding their own oil fragrances, but if the actual system doesn't work, what's the point?

It's not gonna smell like a tree freshener it's just supposed to be a subtle scent from time to time.

Did you pull the tab off? I fitted mine, then turned the feature off, as the smell was overpowering.

Personally, I have No desire myself to inhale chemical fragrance while I drive. . . Nor natural I guess for that matter!
