Sounds interesting. Although car and drivers comment that the steering feel was less then the panamera was a bit disheartening. Overall if it is an improvement over the f10 then welcome news.

Relax, a manual version will probably exist if the US market petitions strongly enough for it like the e60 M5

I was expecting more torque since awd drastically increases traction. Basically it's a f10 m5 zcp with 15 more hp , awd and slightly better handling. Oh and loss of dct...

The system was designed as a piece. No way that they are going to be able to have that type of coordination between the diffs and AWD with a manual in there. |

Finally BMW you listened!!!
I'm just waiting for the M4 and X4M version with M xDrive! BMWs automatic transmissions are amazing, but still I want the DCT transmission option, I want to be able to downshift. As someone who only ever owned stick shifts and rides a gas powered motorcycle being able to downshift and not just relying on your brakes to slow down is critical I feel. But with New York traffic popping it in to Automatic mode is wonderful I must admit. As a driver I want to stay in tuned with the car, driving automatics I get distracted and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I could care less about the M5, too big of a car for me and the guys that get these big cars I would presume don't really need the shifting option anyway. But I do care about the new technology and in the M4 and M3 DCT I feel that's it's necessary and wanted. M xDrive And the rear wheel drive guys which I was my whole life until now owning an xDrive model and being able to drive it in the snow with sport tires and still be able to make it home safely means a lot. Now we all get the best of both worlds at a push of a button, how genius! Took long enough... |

I don't care about the manual. Much prefer DCT any day. I literally would not buy a manual car ever again. I hope the new slushbox in this M5 is at least as good or better than the DCT in the F10 because that is a high bar. I know the Vette's slushy is supposed to be spectacular and better than any DCT out there - so they say. If they can get them that fast and good I'm on board.
Happy to see the weight loss and I am excited and positive on the AWD setup they have on the new M5. Looks like a winner so far I want to see them bring all the bells, whistles and tech from the current 5 range into the M's. I know sometimes certain things they don't offer on the M's. |
