Garage List
Totally thread jacking now but they should adapt the app for M5 owners and track:
- WOT starts
- Threshold braking events
- Lane changes without signaling
- Bumper shaves

Being unemployed with an M5 and enough money to eat out in NYC and Philadelphia seems like a good life! My wife would love it if I would drive 150 miles round trip for dinner (she does not like to drive so I do most of it).

LOL driving your M5 to either spot and finding parking. LOL. pass.

That is what the '13 civic is for.

Stealerships in Chicago charging up to $399/hr!! But most are $250/hr. That is 2-3x Medicare rates for high school dropouts. I think we should sue dealerships if they don't fix the cars right or lie about the diagnosis, just like society loves to sue doctors. Eye for and eye bitch.

In 2019 a salesman told me the dealership model is in the grave. The online car sales model has been taking more market share every year. The effect of COVID on the car market and a realization that you don’t have to deal with a (at times), sleaze salesman who knows nothing about the vehicle really exacerbated the loss of market share. Might be a contributing factor to the dramatic increase in hourly service/repair rates.
The worst part for me is all the dealers have gone to a no haggle policy. Honestly, haggling is the only reason I buy a different vehicle every two years.

100%... I met this guy at a party who was bragging about how he got his new car at a dealer with no haggle policy. He said it was the best buying experience ever. Sitting from a far, the only thing in my head was this dude is a dumb fk. You just paid MSRP for a car and you actually believe this is the best price they could have given you

It is great some of you guys can out negotiate car salesmen. I find the process so distasteful that I would consider a no haggle dealer if the price was right, which you can figure out with a little research. There was a time recently when MSRP was as good as you could get. We bought our last new car in the fall of 2020 when you could get 8% off MSRP. I bought a used car in the spring of 2021 and by then prices were way up and I probably paid close to 5% more than I would have paid the previous year.

yea the whole shenanigan since Covid is something else, definitely an outlier. I can't imagine how many car loans are upside down right now.

Distasteful…? Well we common folk like to get intimate (so to speak) with the person or business our monies go to, see. It’s not about out negotiating the sales rep, it is however about finding out what’s in the realm of possible when it comes to the value of your dollar and patronage. And when I say “your dollar”, I mean my dollar over the other person’s. That is how I approach spending my money at one place vs another. Why would I pay a premium to buy a car from a person when in fact the no haggle dealer business model forces sales reps to act as a robot which can’t critically think and/or advocate for me (the customer).

Well said, I don't really like the no haggle dealerships myself. This is because I personally like to stretch my dollar even when it comes to buying cars (inclusive of high dollar cars like an M5 or similar priced performance cars) or a home or any other high dollar item. Can't really do that when the sales person/sales manager can't negotiate the price because of a dealership policy.

I recently watched a video on YouTube that talked about Carmax beginning to struggle to keep high sales numbers due to this no-haggle model they employ.

I think you missed the point. I have never been to a no haggle dealer, but I do find car dealers distasteful. I research the prices. If I could find a no haggle dealer with a good price, I would prefer that. And to the guy who says the sales rep advocates for him, I think he is wrong. The sales reps and the managers are playing a game with you that you are not going to win.
