I've yet to take her out yet but she sure looks pretty after the install. 😆

Never understood why people put those arch extensions on American cars. They only exist due to Europeans laws and just look odd with a. Piece of plastic (carbon in this case) just jutting out of the top of the wheel well. I'd somewhat understand if they actually were toward the back or the well to act as a debris flap like the front ones. From a distance you almost thing something has broke coming out of your car.

Just curious of the Thought process?
Rock/splash deflection, I have the carbon skirts in the box ready to go on with backordered parts (IND black emblems, spacers) I also put the stone guard flaps in the front wheel well. In the past with how these cars are set up told me the bottom parts would get eaten up by pebbles kicked up by the tires, and even with full PPF, I'm still paranoid. Plus…CARBON FIBERRRRR! 😭😂

I want to do some interior bits as well. Maybe even the grill surrounds in the future.

I think with the addition of spacers the filled out rear section will look even better and make the carbon right at home. Plus I think with the spacers the "wider" track will send up more rocks.
Totally agree. That's why I did the fronts. But the rears are not splash guards. They're fender extenders and don't go anywhere near where the tire extends past the body like normal flaps. That's what gets me. Where I have rock damage is no where near where these things install.

And yes. If you have to have it then definitely cf! Haha
Grass is always greener I guess. I saw them on all the press cars and I was like "man I actually like that!" And then when I'd see the stateside versions without them It was an immediate buy especially in CF 😂.

The RW carbon skirts should do well with some rock protection though…I think?

Just feel as if they gave us the front/ rear splitters and spoiler, why not have the CF on the sides too. Still boggled why the shifter and steering wheel control trim aren't CF… they just want us to spend more ☹️

I find that dumbfounding too. It doesn't match anything else in the car, would look way better in CF, and it annoyingly reflects [sun]light. 😬

How have your temps fared in this summer heat?

I ask because yesterday I was doing some hard driving in 105-108 degree weather for like 5 minutes and my temps shot up well above the 210 mark. In this photo I'd say it was about where I circled. I did one launch, another 2 or 3 hard accelerations to 80 or so.

This has me worried because I plan to take the CS to the track sometime in Sept, and if it can't even handle 5-10 minutes of "spirited driving" how is it going to handle 25 minute sessions?

Wanted to get some other CS owners thoughts and see if they see anything similar. I'm hoping that on the track with the high airflow and lack of slowing down to 10mph and less, it will keep the temps down but I still feel like getting this high isn't normal.

I haven't seen my temp gauge go over the middle bar yet, but I'll keep an eye on it. This will be my second summer with the car and haven't had any issues at all.

Normal driving it's actually well below the middle bar. If I get on it at all it goes to the middle bar.

Check your coolant level. You may be a bit low.

Your problem is in you're in 2WD mode. Why are you trying it in 2WD? You must be in 4WD with DSC off.

Also it was hard to tell from the video but it looks like you're trying to do all of this too quick.

It's quite simple. Just brake to the floor, gas down, and wait 1-2 seconds. Don't let go of the brake UNTIL you see a checkered flag. If you don't see the flag, you are not getting launch control, so don't bother trying to accelerate.

I've tracked a 2018 in 90 degree heat and haven't gone over the middle bar.

The M5CS has not seen ambient air temp over 85, but it has seen a pretty high track temperature without doing anything like that.

I'm with JakerStyle, you might wanna check coolant.

Are you in S3? I can't tell from your video but that's a requirement. Also put it in 4WD as mentioned above although I'm not 100% sure that's required.

Also there's no way to tell from the video but assume you've driven 5-6 miles right before this too? Engine looks warm so I assume so.

I've seen my temp in similar territory after some moderate climbs up Utah canyons in 95+ temps.

Didn't think much of it at the time. Now you have me concerned…

I did some searching and it's seemingly common to get oil temps on the F90 and even the F80 up around 280 when on the track. Mine would have been around 240 yesterday so knowing this I'm not too worried anymore.

Let's see how it does on the track.

Hot Florida weather here and mine has never gotten this high. But it has slightly moved above 210 but that's about it.

There is a lot more airflow during those 20min sessions on a road-course because the avg speed is higher. The oil in the 212F+ range is a good place to because the engine is boiling off condensation at that point. Now this engine does seem to run hot and I get what you’re saying. Like someone else said, check your coolant. If thats low then all of the gauges will sweep up . I am guessing that your CS is in a hot climate.

It was just meant to be…

I previously inquired about the M5CS back in January, was told allocations impossible, dealer was getting 2 for the year and were sold.

Reserved M8GC and backed off, beautiful and impressive but did not fall in love with, did not feel right, something was missing…

A couple of days went to take my X7 dark shadow edition for a service, took a quick round to see new cars available for sale in the showroom, and I unexpectedly find the M5CS in frozen green, I call my sales advisor who has no idea it was sitting in the showroom, upon checking the system, it’s available for sale at retail that same day I took my car in for service, buyer has backed out, I take a couple of pics and leave…

Within the hour I returned & decided to go for it, it was either now or never, I doubt it would stay more than a day, apparently there were a few buyers which I got the jump mere minutes earlier.

The specs is just as I was going for, green with the gold calipers, this is my third M5, previously owned the F10 M5, E60 M5, E46 M3 and the Z3 M coupe, other AMG’s, this is easily the best M I have ever experienced, no doubt the sharpest, bringing the M magic which has faded from recent M’s, truly a drivers car, this week scheduled for 2000km service, and I could not be happier, traded the S coupe for it.

The same happened with the X7, was in the market for a family suv, decided on the X7 and were deciding on color when the sales advisor mentioned receiving a unique one but unsure what it was actually which they just received, the rest was history.

This car is special, a future collector given the recent hybrids; AMG GT 63E, XM, downsizing C63, and others are surely to follow, this is the peak, it all goes downhill from here I’m afraid.

I remember being excited about panamera turbo s expecting rocket ship, disappointed by not feeling more than a regular panamera turbo, which boils down to weight.

The M5CS delivers in aces, sharp and responsive steering, excellent braking, chassis perfection, a true drivers car… however not the most comfortable daily, but all is forgiven for all other positive attributes, stirring up emotions, performance is the priority here, ride is forgiving, not a jarring ride as pre-lci, M wizardry all over the CS.

It was just meant to be…
