Rarity of LCI Tartufo Interior
Hi all,
I'm looking to purchase a used LCI F90 and would really like the Tartufo interior. I don't mind aragon brown, but do prefer the slightly darker color. I've found Tartufo to be a bit more limited but not exactly rare in the month or so that I've been looking seriously. There is a 2021 donnington Grey/Tartufo car for sale in California (i'm in NJ), but the price is high and due to California's tax law, shipping would be required. I'm not in a rush to buy a car, so I'm happy to wait to find one closer to me at a more reasonable price, but if this interior is truly a rare option, maybe I accept that I'll need to pay more for it. So with that said, anyone have an idea of popularity of this interior color for the LCI cars? I'm less particular about exterior, any white, gray, or blue would be fine, so that part shouldn't be a big issue. I also don't have much of a preference between base vs competition. Any input would be great. thanks. |

I know a few of us ordered with it in the final model year. I'm pretty sure it is rare because it could only be ordered for a customer sold car, not dealer stock.
I love the color and full leather. All M5's should be configured with full leather, and executive, otherwise get an M3 My car won't be for sale for at least 10 years, so no help to you there. |

I was one of those that ordered the tartufo interior (Tanzanite / Tartufo) and love it. The contrast stitching is very nice and gives the interior a little more luxurious feel. Not knocking any other interior option as they all look very nice.
Gratuitous picture below. It's an interesting color. It photographs more in the orange hue than it really is. |

I also have Tartufo with Donnington exterior. I ordered the car that way in 2021. Love the combination. I think the combination has a more luxurious feel. It is kind of like a brute in a suit. I never thought of it as rare. When I ordered it I believe it was a $5k option.

'21 MBB over Tartufo here
Tartufo is an Individual interior which drives the rarity, though I've seen this interior moreso as compared to other individual interiors. |

Yeh... I think the 2 that were offered (at my time of purchase 2023) was the tartufo and the smoke. I've only seen 1 smoke interior on this forum. Probably more but that is the only one I remember.

Thanks all for the feedback. Seems like its definitely more rare than other options but certainly not impossible to find.
This california dealer is pretty firm on price, so maybe I'm just expecting too much? Its a CPO 2021 Competition with 38k miles Donnington over Tartufo Most options. Does not have CCB or B&W decent service history, no accidents, etc. They are asking about $83k, which seems high for the mileage. I'm guessing they would likely add a bunch of dealer fees. With shipping to NJ, I'd be into it roughly $87k. Does that feel a touch high for others? The online pricing guidelines seem to feel its about $4k high and I agree. |

I wanted Tartufo when I was looking for my car because, while I am ok with the Aragon Brown color, I couldn't stand the black inserts - especially on the rear seats where it almost looks like a mistake because they do not go all the way to the top. I have MBB over Tartufo and am very happy.

I love my Tartufo too! I special ordered it for my ‘22 in mid 2021. There was an issue with ordering it at the time so my awesome dealer reached out to the region and they were able to push it through. Good thing because it’s one of my favorite parts of the car. I love the way the entire console is covered as well as the seat backs. Good luck OP!

I have a 2021 with Tartufo and it s gorgeous. To me, it is incomprehensible why it had such a low take rate.
It was VERY difficult to find an F90 with Tartufo. I'd say ~1:100 have it. And the ones that do tend to be highly optioned cars (Individual paint, CCB's, etc). |

My M5 is Aragon and my wife's X6 is Tartufo. They both as great colors IMO.
One thing we noticed is that the Tartufo is really easy to show scratches and abrasions. Only a year and a half of ownership and we will need to do some dye corrections. This is the only car we have every owned that we have ever had to do this. |

I think it is the best option for the F90. Such a deep, saturated look/colour.
Mine looks as good as it did the day I picked it up.

F90 Tartufo is better than Tartufo on any other model. It's richer and more colorful. Not sure why, but it is. M850 Tartufo doesn't come close.

Chalk and Tartufo… what do I need to do to get written into the will?? Because I’m guessing that’s not a car you’re selling anytime soon haha

You guessed correctly … spec’d car with just about every option, knowing I would hold on to this one for a long time. Last ICE M5 .. I will reserve judgement on the G90 M5.

I have a M550 now. Probably a year or so away from changing rides (if I can stay patient… challenging for me at times) but came here to do some research on F90 ownership experience. I’d probably be buying it with just 1-2 years of warranty left. Not sure if anyone does extended warranty on M cars. I thought I’d go M850GC but after a week in a 840GC I don’t know if I could live with those seats long term. Read the F90 seats are wider and more comfortable. And to bring it back to topic - Tartufo is BMW’s best interior. Other great merino ones for sure across models and years (Smoke, Zagora Beige, Caramel, Cognac). But Tartufo takes the cake. Especially the F90 interior. We have it in our X7 and love it. Tried to find an M550 with it but couldn’t find one with other must have specs. Tartufo would be worth waiting for if you could stand to wait and get it, in my opinion.

My daily is an X5 so I usually drive the M5 on weekends and occasionally to work. Seats are great and Tartufo is as you describe it. I’ve had 6 M5’s and the F90 has been the best of them all. If you can get one, go for it! Recent pic:

Thanks all for the encouraging pics.
I found another car in nj that is more reasonably priced. Brands hatch over tartufo 2021 comp. No bowers but that's not unusual for 21s I understand. Only has 25k miles. Given stop sale, that's all dealer wants to tell me at this point so maybe when that ends I will make a move. |
