I just had my 1st regular oil change today at 7500mi with it saying 500 left. After reset the new initial value is now 8000. So it looks like it defaults the next interval to whatever the last one ended up at. The first interval started at 10k but worked its way down. Since I think the 5k oil change lore is unwarranted I sent this oil in to Blackstone as well. It looks like I'll be a 7k-7.5k interval going forward.
My wife's X5 (B58) defaulted to 12k after 10k for the last interval.
